Robot Project

Grade 1

The first grade students read “My Robot” from the Trophies series.  It is a great story about a young boy from the future who has a robot.  The robot, Cecil, does many different things, especially when it comes to helping the boy and his family with chores around the house.  The best thing about Cecil is that he is the boy’s friend.  As a connection to the story, each student created their own special robot using different materials at home. 
Once the students presented their very creative and unique robots to the class, they completed a character analysis comparing Cecil from the story to their own robots.  This information was used to write a report comparing the two robots and included special tasks their robot would perform for them on a daily basis. 
All robot projects and reports were a huge success!!
