I asked a few of my classes if they were interested in running the Best Buddies 5k in Milton with me and explained the Best Buddies Organization to them. Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). They were up to the challenge. I then put a competitive twist on it, "Can you beat Ms. McEvoy?"

On Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 9am we were off.  There was so much spirit in the air, run or walk we knew we were doing it for a great cause. Four boys from the 6th grade; Robert Westwater, Andrew Pelletier, Christian Hayes and Jimmy Sullivan held their hands as they crossed the finish line. My team was comprised of St. Agatha School parents, teachers and students and ended up raising over $500!
